Occupy Miami Given Until Sunset To Leave

Those taking part in the Occupy Miami protest on the west lawn of the Stephen P. Clark Government Center have been given until sunset on Tuesday to leave the area.
According to the Occupy Miami release, their eviction from the site comes three days after the county denied a permit to stay where they were because of “current site conditions and unsafe activities.”
Williams carry No. 10 Miami women past BC

Shenise Johnson scored 16 of her 22 points in the opening half to lead No. 10 Miami to its eighth straight win, an 88-57 rout over Boston College on Sunday.
The Hurricanes (19-3, 8-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) never trailed and pulled to a double digit lead on Riquna Williams’ basket in the lane 5:44 into the game. Their advantage never dropped into single digits the rest of the way.
Miami Herald confirms relocation to Doral by 2013

The deal to have The Miami Herald move to Doral involves not only leasing the office building that was once home to the U.S. Southern Command in Doral, but buying an adjacent site for its printing plant and distribution operations. “Drum roll, please… the big announcement is finally here!” states Publisher David Landsberg’s Jan. 26 memo to employees.
“We’re on the move – and starting in May 2013, our new headquarters will be located at 3511 NW 91 Ave., on the 15-acre site that was formerly home to the U.S. Southern Command.”
Real Estate Schemer Pleads Guilty in Miami

A prominent Cuban-American businessman has pleaded guilty in Miami to fraud charges arising from a $135 million real estate scheme that fleeced hundreds of investors.
The victims include the Roman Catholic prep school that 73-year-old Gaston Cantens once attended. He faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to a single count of wire and mail fraud conspiracy. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams set sentencing for April 4.
Disney Cruise Line coming to Miami

Disney Cruise Line Tuesday announced it will will sail from Miami for the first time beginning December 2012. Through May 2013, the Disney Wonder will call Miami home for a series of four- and five-night sailings from Miami to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean. The series will start with one six-night cruise and one seven-night cruise from PortMiami.
Rates for the four- and five-night cruises will start at $440 per person, double occupancy, for an inside cabin, according to a Disney Cruise release.
Miami Dolphins’ next coach will experience doubt

Jeff Fisher, as if to underline his credentials for heroically rescuing those in need, stopped his vehicle the other night outside Nashville to lend aid to two teenagers who had been involved in a single-car accident. True story.
A few days earlier Fisher could have come to the rescue of two other men also involved in a wreck and perhaps in even greater need — Stephen Ross and Jeff Ireland, their wreck the Dolphins — but the coach of course chose the St. Louis Rams instead. Another true story.

Kent State Rallys For 71-67 Win Over Miami

Senior forward Justin Greene (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored a season high 23 points including the go-ahead basket with 23 seconds remaining as Kent State (11-4; 1-1 MAC) rallied for a 71-67 Mid-American Conference win over Miami (4-10; 0-2 MAC) on Wednesday night at the M.A.C. Center. The Golden Flashes erased a seven point deficit in the final six minutes by closing the game out with a 13-2 run.
