Miami International Airport had the greatest passenger growth among the top 20 U.S. airports, according to anna.aero.The airport had a 7.3 percent passenger growth, year-over-year, in 2011, reaching 38.3 million. Further passenger growth is expected at MIA this year, where an LAN Colombia flight to Bogota has already launched this month.
In the anna.aero analysis, MIA was followed by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, with 5.6 percent growth, and Boston Logan International Airport, with 5.4 percent growth.
Only two of the top 20 airports recorded passenger declines: Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, which was down 0.8 percent, and Chicago O’Hare International Airport, which was down 0.4 percent.
Passengers growth at the top 20 airports was a combined 2.5 percent in 2011.
